Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how CJN (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you use the CJN platform (cjnnow.com), the CJN TV broadcast, and the CJN Reels mobile application (collectively, the “Service”).

We comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Account data — name, email address, mobile number, password (hashed), role (student / employer / school-admin / group-admin / admin), country code, gender (optional), date of birth (optional).

Student profile — college, branch, year, CGPA, skills, bio, LinkedIn / GitHub / portfolio URLs, resumes and other uploaded documents.

Employer profile — company name, website, logo, contact details, HR staff list, job postings.

Usage data — pages visited, video views, reel engagement (likes, comments, shares), chat messages, application submissions, interview bookings, and device / browser metadata (IP address, user agent).

Payment data — transaction IDs, payer name, payer email, amount, payment method, and gateway response metadata for Razorpay transactions. We do not store full card numbers, CVVs, or net-banking credentials — these are handled directly by Razorpay.

Communications — emails, SMS (OTP), and in-app messages you send or receive through the Service.

AI Interview data — audio and video recordings, transcripts, and AI-generated evaluation reports for sessions you explicitly start.

• To create and operate your account and deliver the Service;
• To match students with job opportunities and enable employer discovery;
• To broadcast CJN TV content and power the CJN Reels feed;
• To process payments via Razorpay;
• To send transactional emails and SMS (OTP, alerts, reminders, password resets);
• To provide AI Interview evaluations using Google Gemini;
• To prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms & Conditions;
• To comply with legal obligations including tax, audit, and law-enforcement requests.

Where GDPR applies, we process personal data on the bases of (a) contract — to deliver the Service you signed up for; (b) legitimate interests — to maintain security, prevent fraud, and improve the Service; (c) consent — for marketing communications and optional analytics; and (d) legal obligation — where processing is required by law.

We share personal data only in the following limited circumstances:

• With employers — when you apply to a job, your profile, resume, and application are shared with the relevant employer.
• With schools / group admins — your academic profile is visible to your associated school admin or group admin for placement tracking.
• With service providers — Razorpay (payments), AWS / Contabo (hosting and CDN), Google (Gemini API for AI Interview, Google Analytics, Google Fonts), email and SMS gateway providers, and YouTube (for stream relay). These providers process data only as instructed by us and under binding data-processing terms.
• For legal reasons — to comply with valid legal process or protect rights, property, or safety.
• Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to the acquirer honouring this Policy.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active. After you delete your account we remove or anonymise personal data within 30 days, except:

• Payment and transaction records — retained for up to 7 years to comply with Indian tax law;
• Audit and security logs — retained for up to 12 months;
• Content you posted publicly (chat, comments) that is necessary to preserve for other users — anonymised on deletion.

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you;
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
• Delete your account and associated personal data (see section 7);
• Export your data in a machine-readable format;
• Withdraw consent for marketing communications;
• Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Data Protection Board of India or your local EU regulator).

To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@cjnnow.com. We will respond within 30 days.

You can request deletion of your account at any time. Three paths are available:

• In-app — Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account;
• Public web form — cjnnow.com/delete-account (no login required);
• Email — privacy@cjnnow.com from the email address on your account.

On receiving a request we verify your identity, acknowledge within 7 working days, and complete deletion within 30 days. Some data may be retained for the limited periods described in section 5.

We protect your data using TLS in transit, encrypted database connections, role-based access controls, and regular security audits. No online service is perfectly secure — if you suspect your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

The Service is not intended for users under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal data, contact us at privacy@cjnnow.com and we will delete it.

Our primary infrastructure is hosted in India and Europe (Contabo, AWS). Where data is transferred outside your jurisdiction, we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.

We use strictly-necessary cookies for login sessions and CSRF protection. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate usage; you can opt out by using browser Do-Not-Track or Google's opt-out add-on.

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app notice at least 7 days before taking effect.
